Why Visit a Motorcycle Salvage Yard?
If you own a motorcycle or plan to buy one, then you might someday need to visit a motorcycle salvage yard. Also known as junkyards and boneyards, salvage yards can serve many purposes for bikers with problems. It's likely you have one of these locations somewhere near you, and to find out, ask other bikers or check your local Yellow Pages.
You may be wondering why you would choose to visit one of these establishments rather than obtaining the parts you need somewhere else. Well, one reason is selection. Often you can find parts and accessories that are difficult to obtain anywhere else. Another reason is price. You're likely to find a much better deal at a motorcycle boneyard than if you bought a brand new replacement part for your bike.
Do you have a vintage or classic bike? If so, you might have real trouble finding the parts you need if something goes wrong. This is another area where visiting a salvage facility just might come in handy. Maybe you need a new motorcycle frame. These yards are excellent places to look. Or perhaps you need a replacement windshield. You're sure to find one at a boneyard! From foreign motorcycles to domestic hogs, there are all kinds of parts at these facilities to meet every biker's need.
One of the best things about these yards is that they're usually run and staffed by individuals that know a lot about motorcycles. Often, they can help you determine exactly what you need to get your bike up and running again. If they don't have what you need, they can sometimes refer you to someone who does. Or, you could ask them to call you if the part you require comes in. When you first visit a salvage facility, simply introduce yourself to the staff, tell them a little about your bike and what you're looking for.
Do you have an old, beat up or run down bike that's accumulating dust? These yards will often take your problem off your hands. Sometimes, they'll even come to your location and pick up your broken bike rather than requiring you to bring it to them. Some yards offer payment for your items, others do not. There are many reasons why you might want to visit a motorcycle salvage yard. Check out the locations near you to discover all the low-priced parts and accessories available!
